The S.A Eventing Champs 2019, hosted at Inanda Country Base on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th November 2019 turned out to be a great success! ICB would like to congratulate all the riders for their fantastic sportsmanship and teamwork with their horses. It was beautiful to see the strong connections the riders have with their horses and how competitors value their trusted steeds.
Not only did we have a great number of entries with a total of 108 horses entered, but we also had a vast amount of spectators and supporters that enjoyed the day with us. Visitors came streaming in to watch the 3* course that had everyone holding their breath!
Riders made all efforts to stay in the competition as they had to master all 3 disciplines – dressage, cross country and show jumping. And let me tell you – it was a tough competition. The unfortunate spills took some riders out of the competition as they were left dismounted – thankfully all safe and sound!
We were also flattered with a beautiful performance by the S.A Lipizzaners, showing off their elegance in a flowing Par de Deux. The piano music complimented their graceful movements and had the audience drawn to their enchanting presence. Followed by a slightly faster paced Hound display by the Rand Hunt. The hounds did a great job at catching the scent and were very eager to chase off after, they clearly showed their speed and agility as the Hunt Master and her team of horses galloped to keep up. Always great entertainment as we watch how the hounds follow instinct and the horses, as always, perfecting the art of teamwork.
Stalls were booming as the Craft Beer, strawberry de-queries and coffee freezos kept spectators refreshed throughout the day – especially up in the country during the Star classes! Stalls varied from equine products, arts and crafts, locally made fashion, shoes to die for, and even cheese platters and home made jams.
The smell of delicious food kept creeping up leaving us to indulge in some very tasteful munchies, filling the stomach void whilst enjoying some thrilling showjumping with some soulful music by some super talented performers.
Overall – a very good weekend! The start of many enjoyable Eventing Shows with entertainment for the whole family! We are looking forward to the 2020 Eventing Champs to be MUCH bigger and full of surprises!
